OUR MISSION

We believe a lasting culture of reading emerges when schools, families, and communities work together to make stories an integral part of children's lives.

By strengthening the connections between educators, caregivers, children, and local publishing communities, we aim to make reading accessible, enjoyable, and valued — not only as a foundation for learning, but as a lifelong source of curiosity, imagination, and opportunity.

Too many children grow up without the support and resources they need to develop a lifelong habit of reading.

Caregivers need confidence, not perfect literacy.
Many caregivers believe they must be fluent readers to support their child's literacy development. In reality, storytelling, conversations, and shared experiences can nurture a child's love of reading, regardless of a caregiver's own literacy level.

Teachers need practical tools and training.
Teachers do not always have access to training on how to integrate storytelling and reading for enjoyment into everyday learning. As a result, valuable opportunities to strengthen children's language, comprehension, creativity, and love of reading are often missed.

Children need access to books that reflect their world.
In many communities, affordable, high-quality illustrated storybooks - especially those written in local languages and reflecting children's own cultures and experiences—are difficult to access. Without regular exposure to engaging books, children have fewer opportunities to develop a lifelong habit of reading.
